Welcome to HelloTutor ("we," "our," or "us"). HelloTutor operates the platform accessible via our web application and official mobile applications across Bangladesh. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our tuition marketplace services, student focus planner, community discussion forums, and educational modules.
By accessing or using HelloTutor, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of our services.

We collect several types of information to provide and improve our services to you:
A. Information Provided Directly by You
- Account Profile Data: Full name, email address, mobile phone number, gender, preferred division, district, zone, and neighborhood areas.
- Tutor Credentials & Verification: Educational history (SSC, HSC, University details), degree certificates, NID/Student ID images, subject expertise, and tuition rates.
- Guardian & Student Tuition Listings: Student class level, medium (Bangla/English Version, Edexcel/Cambridge), subjects needed, salary budget, preferred tuition time, and location.
- Communication & Feedback: Messages submitted via Edu Advisor counseling, community post replies, and customer support inquiries.
B. Information Collected Automatically
- Device & Network Data: IP address, device model, operating system version, browser type, and client error logs.
- Usage Data: Pages visited, study timer sessions logged, quiz attempts, and streak records.
3. How We Use Your Information
HelloTutor uses collected information for the following primary purposes:
- Tuition Matching & Discovery: Connecting qualified tutors with guardians and students based on geographic location, subject expertise, salary expectations, and class levels.
- Identity Verification: Verifying tutor academic credentials and national identification to assign verified badges and build platform trust.
- Service Customization: Automatically pre-selecting your relevant class level across courses, materials, quizzes, and focus planner.
- Notifications & Reminders: Sending real-time updates regarding tuition applications, demo class bookings, referral rewards, and study reminders via Push Notifications and SMS.
- Platform Security & Abuse Prevention: Detecting fraudulent accounts, preventing spam in community discussions, and maintaining platform integrity.
4. Location & Geolocation Data
HelloTutor includes nearby tuition and tutor discovery features powered by browser and native mobile GPS services (via Capacitor Geolocation plugin).
How Location Data is Handled:
- Geolocation is requested only when you explicitly interact with features like "Nearby Tuitions" or "Nearby Tutors."
- Your exact GPS coordinates are used solely to calculate distance radiuses (e.g. within 5 km) and are never broadcast publicly.
- You may deny location permissions in your device settings at any time; manual Division, District, and Zone dropdowns remain fully functional.
5. Data Sharing & Third-Party Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties or advertising brokers under any circumstances.
We may share necessary data only in the following limited situations:
- Tuition Contact Consent: When a guardian accepts a tutor's application or books a demo class, relevant contact phone numbers are shared between the involved parties.
- Trusted Service Providers: Verified third-party service providers who assist in operating our infrastructure (SMS gateways for OTP delivery, push notification servers, cloud hosting providers).
- Legal Compliance: If required to do so by Bangladeshi law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., law enforcement agencies).
6. Account Deletion & Your Data Rights
In compliance with Google Play Store and Apple App Store privacy policies, every HelloTutor user has the explicit right to request permanent deletion of their account and associated data.
Account Removal Requests:
You can submit an account removal request directly through our web form or by contacting support.
Requests are processed within 7 business days. Profile details, uploaded documents, tuition applications, and history will be permanently removed.
7. Data Security & Storage
We maintain robust technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. All data transmissions occur over encrypted HTTPS connections (TLS 1.3), and sensitive files are stored in protected server environments.
8. Children & Student Privacy
HelloTutor provides educational tools, quizzes, and free video lessons for students in Class 1–12. Student profiles registered by minors should be supervised by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal identity documents from minors without guardian involvement.
